This Friday, April 30, is Arbor Day. Since Bublr loves trees, almost as much as bikes, we will plant one tree through the Trillion Tree Campaign for every Bublr trip taken on Arbor Day that’s 15 minutes or more. Grab a friend and take a ride to plant a tree! Stay tuned to learn how many trees we planted.
The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program
The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program is important for preserving and increasing access to green spaces across the state. Several bike trails in the region received funding from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program including the Beerline Trail, the Hank Aaron State Trail, and several sections of the Oak Leaf Trail. The program is up for re-authorization and it is important to the functioning of the program that it be reauthorized for 10 years. You can learn more and contact your legislators here.
NEW Text Updates About The Bublr Network (Stations and System)
In an effort to serve our riders better, Bublr has recently set up a text alert system that we can use to send updates about stations and similar system status updates. This is a completely separate system. If you’d like to sign up to receive these notifications you can either text “SIGNUP” to 414-420-9412 or signup here.
This is a separate system from the individual notifications you may be opted into from 24587. You can opt-out of either system by replying “stop” or “unsubscribe” to any messages. Just remember, opting out of one won’t opt you out of the other.
News Round Up
A great article was published in Grist this morning highlighting some of the important equity work going on in bikeshare right now. Bublr was highlighted for our free Access Pass Program last year, thanks to a partnership with Anthem, and our efforts to include adaptive bikes in our system. Relatedly, Anthem is making our Access Pass free again this year.
Bikeshare Critical to Riders During 2020
This report, surveying some 10,000 bikeshare users across the country found that 81% of bikeshare riders were using the bikes to complete first/last mile trips. Nearly half of respondents said it would have been “difficult or even impossible” for them to access essential services during the pandemic without bikeshare. These survey results make it very clear that bikeshare is essential. Read the full article here.
