City-County Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity

In 2019 Milwaukee County and the City of Milwaukee created the City-County Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity to make recommendations on how to reduce community-wide net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 45% by the year 2030 and achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner while reducing racial and income inequality by assuring that greenhouse gas reducing investments and policies create the maximum number of permanent living wage green jobs for people who live in the most impoverished Milwaukee neighborhoods. During the past year the Task Force and its various work groups have been hard at work, but it’s important that as many people have input into this process as possible so the Education and Outreach Work Group created a video survey that you can use to provide input on what projects and policies are most important to you. So let your voice be heard (literally) and take the video survey!

Benefits of Cycling

A new study from the University of Wisconsin – Madison found that if the entire U.S. used bicycles for the same percentage of trips as they are used for in Madison, just 6% we could: reduce deaths from chronic disease in the U.S. by 20,000 a year, lead to 28,000 fewer cases of cardiovascular disease and 22,000 fewer cases of diabetes a year, improve air quality to save $780 million a year in health costs and avert about 7,000 days of work lost to illness, and provide about $1.2 billion a year in global benefits due to climate change mitigation.
